Demand Response, also called Demand Side Management, is an innovative Smart Grid approach to managing the National Grid by paying flexible electricity users to reduce their electrical consumption during peak grid demand periods.
Balancing Supply and Demand on the national grid is a constant challenge for Eirgrid (Ireland's national grid operator). Peak consumption periods, and unforseen supply outages can pose significant difficulties. Typically, Eirgrid caters for this demand/supply imbalance by instructing 'peak power' generators to switch on for short periods.

Activation Energy aggregates multiple demand reduction sites, centralizing the required licencing, dispatch and communications infrastructure to deliver Demand Reduction on request to Eirgrid, whilst delivering a guaranteed income stream to our Energy User clients.
